Still plugging away at drawing my cover but a few things came to mind this week. I had a few dreams I plan to make into stories or put them together as a story later on. Most of my stories come from dreams, but some life experiences have helped with other story ideas.
One thing that’s taking me away from drawing or writing is cleaning a part of our yard to make room for a fire pit. I have always wanted a fire pit and I know it would help with writing. I find it good to experience what you want to write. Of course there are certain things you can’t do, but there are others you could. Sitting by an open flame can help with showing compared to just telling your reader they are by a fire. Your imagination could fly with different ideas for what your characters could do around the fire too.
Going to a Renaissance Festival is great for ideas for stories with medieval genres like most of my stories to come, but something I truly want to experience is LARP. LARP stands for Live Action Role Play. I have been looking them up lately and found these places where you go for a week or just a weekend and join a story. You create a character and act out this character to help further the stories. Doing that I feel would be a great idea to test out ideas for future stories. I would also get other people's ideas instead of just my own. When I am writing out dialogue, I am writing what I think the characters are saying, but if I have someone else reacts to that same conversation I know I could get a better reaction than just from my side. My problems with trying LARP however are the costs for these events and finding friends to go with me, not to mention the cost for making the costumes and accessories for whatever character I would make. I really want to try LARP, but I don’t make enough money for fun stuff like that and not a lot of whimsical friends who have the time or the same problems I have.
Is there something you want or have experienced that helped with your writing or that would make for a great story?
