Hi and welcome to the blogging side of my website. I have never blogged before so I would love tips. This first entry is a more detailed post about myself, so if you read through it you’ll know me a little more.
I was born in Loveland, CO in 1992. I believe when I was 4 years old, my parents moved me and my brother into a new house where my grandparents lived with us in a split-level house. Most days I would grab a Junie B. Jones book, run down the stairs to my grandparents, sit in my grandpa’s lap and read aloud. My grandpa motivated me to want to read. While I was in elementary school, I would write short stories, draw pictures with them and craft them into books. At the time I wanted the typical jobs a young child wanted, singer, actor, ect. I never considered being an author, I thought of writing as a hobby.
In 2001 my family moved to Danbury, NE. After a few torturous years at Southwest School, I moved to McCook Jr. High and meet a friend who gave me the idea to be an author. She wanted to be an author too. We would share our ideas and stories together, brainstorm, and enjoy what we created. She had her own story while I worked on mine. I’ve imagined my story being published but in high school I had no confidence in myself. I didn’t trust my story was good enough. I did, however, wanted to be a writer in someway. For an assignment as a senior in English we had to shadow someone in the job we wanted. I found no one who was an author, so I tried Journalism. They passed me off to many journalists and found myself discouraged.
I graduated from McCook High School in 2011 and headed straight into the workforce. I was a housekeeper promoted to RA (Resident Aide), but I wasn’t happy. I pushed into this career path; I didn’t choose it. During this time I continued with my story, trying to improve it. Every time I did I would become stuck on a certain chapter and redo the whole thing again. Doubting my abilities and following the path of CNA was what seemed to be best.
During this time I also met my husband through Match.com (funny isn’t it lol). We are together for sometime and then I become pregnant. Because of my doubt, the job, starting a life for myself and being pregnant, I put my story away. I focused on what was best for my husband and my child at the time. I had gained the title Med Aide when life pushed me on a different path. I went to college with my husband's support and guidance (if you go to college, get grants, not loans). At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to go for and my husband encouraged me to try graphic design. I truly enjoyed it and graduated from Mid-Plains Community College with an Associates Degree in Graphic Design in 2011.
After I got a job involving my degree and I enjoyed it for a time but life shoved me onto another path. My husband to a job at K-State University and we had to move away. I supported my husband for his choice, but I wasn’t happy about working at my new job for three months and moving so soon. But looking back at it now, I’m glad it happened.
After living in a new place for over a year, I had a hard time finding a job because we live an hour away from Manhattan, KS, where my husband worked. Our daughter attended the local school so one of us had to be close in case something happened to her in an area we have never lived in before. I had to choose. Work a job I hated, or a job I wanted for years. My confidence has grown over the years since I graduated (my husband was a great supporter and helped me). I believed I could follow the path of an Author this time. I began with that old story I set aside so long ago in December 2018 and on May 4, 2019 I had finished my first draft.
I’ll more of my experience in other blogs but that is more detail into me. Thank you so much for reading, I have a question for you. Since this is an introduction post, I want you to introduce yourself. Make it long or short and share what you want about yourself. The more we share, the more we can grow as a community.
