For each month of the year I have goals I plan to achieve. Some are small goals while others are bigger in comparison. Writing out my goals somewhere I can see them seems to help and when I can check them off the list, it feels good.
My goals for this month were as follows: Publish my website. Start the second round of beta readers. Begin writing chapters for the next book. I can happily say I reached them all for this month.
I published my website on my birthday. The process to make the website was okay, I took a class on Skillshare so I could understand Squarespace. Choosing a design from their temples took some time because I was debating between two. As I was designing the look of the temple I choose, I began feeling excited and nervous. When it came time to publish however I felt nothing, wonder if it was because I was nervous and excited for most of the process of making the site. I don’t know, but I feel happy that I publish the site.
The second round of beta readers has officially started on the 27. I had a beta reader start earlier this month but the main one was getting student from my daughters' school. I got to meet the students interested so they could ask questions they had. Funny enough, none of the students and teachers have heard of beta reading before. In both was it’s understandable and sad. When I was in school, I did not understand what you had to do to be an author. Yeah, you could write a book and publish it, but to make it a success there’s a long process. I would have loved to have someone to talk to about the process in school to help me become an author sooner. Sure you could go to YouTube for it, but having a human interaction on the subject is more inspiring. They tell you the truth behind it and they can give you tips. The internet is great, but a human interaction is better in my opinion. So I look forward to the students feedback and questions they may ask me later on.
The last goal was starting my second book, Black Bird. I plan to have it in the same universe as Charms so the full title is Tales of Terruha: Black Bird. After editing Charms I had some downtime while waiting to know if they allowed the students to read the book. I began outlining the story for Black Bird and so far I have gotten to chapter four so far. I plan to release a set of synopsis for all three books so keep your eyes open for that.
I have new goals for February but I’m curious to learn what goals you have?
